6 Days Tour from Casablanca: Private Morocco Tour to Fes and the Sahara Desert
Read the Itinerary ↓Our 6 days tour from Casablanca is the fastest way to see the four faces of Morocco in one private trip: the Atlantic capital, the Blue City, the oldest medina in the Arab world and the Sahara. You leave Casablanca in the morning, sleep in Chefchaouen, spend a full guided day in Fes, ride a camel into the Erg Chebbi dunes and finish in Marrakech six days later.
This 6 day Morocco tour runs as a private tour, never as a shared bus. You travel only with your own group, in an air-conditioned vehicle, with the same English-speaking driver-guide from the first pick-up to the last drop-off. If you are looking for a short desert tour from Casablanca that still includes the imperial cities, this is the route travellers book with us most often.

Why choose a private 6 day Morocco tour from Casablanca?
Most travellers land in Casablanca, yet most desert tours start in Marrakech. As a result, people lose a day on the train before their trip even begins. This tour starts at your hotel or at Mohammed V Airport and goes north first, so the imperial cities come at the start and the long drive to the dunes happens only once.
A private tour also changes the trip itself. You stop where you want for photos, you choose the hotels, and your guide adapts the day if you are tired. Group tours cannot do that. If you are comparing formats, read our guide to private vs group tours in Morocco.
Itinerary of the 6 days tour from Casablanca
The plan below is our standard route for the 6 days tour from Casablanca. We adjust the stops, the hotels and the camp to your wishes. Distances and driving times come from the road itself and do not include stops.
Day 1: Casablanca – Hassan II Mosque – Rabat – Chefchaouen
Your driver-guide picks you up at your hotel, riad or at Mohammed V Airport at around 8:00 am. First, you stop at the Hassan II Mosque, completed in 1993 on a platform over the ocean; its minaret, at about 210 m, is one of the tallest in the world. Guided visits inside are open to non-Muslims several times a day, except on Friday morning.
Next, the motorway follows the coast to Rabat, about 90 km away. You walk up to the Hassan Tower, the unfinished 12th-century minaret of Sultan Yacoub al-Mansour, and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V beside it. Then you enter the Kasbah of the Udayas, whose white and blue lanes overlook the mouth of the Bou Regreg river.
In the afternoon, the road turns inland towards the Rif Mountains. You arrive in Chefchaouen before sunset, in time for a first walk to the Outa el Hammam square and the viewpoint of the Spanish Mosque.

- Driving time: about 5 hours
- Overnight: riad or hotel in Chefchaouen
- Meals: —
Day 2: Chefchaouen – Ouezzane – Fes
Spend the morning in the Blue City while it is still quiet. The medina is small enough to cross on foot, and the blue walls are at their best in the soft morning light. Visit the Kasbah, its garden and the small ethnographic museum before leaving.
Around midday you drive south through olive groves and rolling hills via Ouezzane. You reach Fes in the late afternoon and settle into a riad inside or near the old medina. The evening is free for a first look at Bab Bou Jeloud, the Blue Gate.

Day 3: Fes – full-day guided tour of the medina
Today a licensed local guide takes you through Fes el-Bali, on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1981 and one of the largest car-free urban areas in the world. You see the outside of al-Qarawiyyin, founded in 859 by Fatima al-Fihri, the Bou Inania Madrasa and the Nejjarine fountain.
Then you climb to a terrace above the Chouara tannery, where hides are still dyed in stone vats. In the afternoon you can visit the Royal Palace gates, the Mellah and the Marinid tombs viewpoint for a panorama over the whole medina.

After lunch in Midelt, the green mountains give way to the Ziz Valley, a long canyon of palm groves and earthen ksour. Finally you reach Merzouga, swap the car for a camel and ride into the Erg Chebbi dunes as the sun goes down. Dinner, Berber drums and a night under the stars follow at the camp.
- Driving distance: about 470 km

Then the road heads west to Tinghir and the Todgha Gorge. In its narrowest section the canyon closes to about 10 m between walls of some 160 m, and you walk along the river bed. In the late afternoon you reach the Dades Valley, with its hairpin bends and the eroded cliffs known as the Monkey Fingers.

Favorites Morocco Tours vs other Morocco tour companies
Many companies sell a six-day Casablanca tour that is really a Marrakech desert loop with a train ride added at the start. Ours begins at your door in Casablanca, puts the imperial cities first, and gives Fes a full guided day instead of a two-hour walk.
Besides that, we are a local team based in Marrakech. We publish real driving times before you book, we keep the same driver-guide for the whole trip, and there are no compulsory shopping stops. If six days feels rushed, we will say so and point you to the 8 days private tour from Casablanca.
Know before you go
- Day 4 is the longest of the trip, about 8 hours with stops. The other days stay between 4 and 6 hours 30 minutes.
- Want to come back to Casablanca instead of ending in Marrakech? Take the 7 days private tour from Casablanca, which loops back to the coast.
- The Hassan II Mosque is closed to visitors on Friday morning. If you land on a Friday, we visit it in the afternoon or skip to Rabat.
- The Rissani souk runs on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Tell us your dates and we try to line up day 5 with one of them.
- From December to February, snow is possible in the Middle Atlas and on the Tizi n’Tichka, and desert nights drop close to freezing. Pack a warm layer; see what to wear in Morocco.
- In July and August the south is very hot, often above 40 °C. Spring and autumn are the best seasons: check the best time to visit Morocco.
- Bring cash in dirhams for lunches, entrance fees and tips. ATMs exist in every city on the route but not at the desert camp; see our guide to the Moroccan dirham and to tipping in Morocco.
- Pack a small overnight bag for the desert camp, because your main luggage stays in the vehicle.
- Tell us about any allergy or diet before departure. Riads and camps prepare vegetarian and vegan meals with notice.
