Private Tour

Our 7 days private tour from Casablanca is a full loop of Morocco that starts and ends at Casablanca, so it fits any return flight from Mohammed V Airport. In one week you see Marrakech and the Atlantic town of Essaouira, cross the High Atlas to Ait Ben Haddou, sleep in a desert camp in the Erg Chebbi dunes, explore the medina of Fes and finish with Rabat on the way back to the coast.

It is the 7 day Morocco tour we recommend to first-time visitors who want the Sahara and the imperial cities without a single backtrack. You travel privately, only with your own group, in an air-conditioned vehicle with the same driver-guide all week, and every day is planned around real driving times rather than a rushed timetable.

Why choose a private 7 day Morocco tour from Casablanca?

Seven days is the sweet spot for a first trip to Morocco. It is long enough to sleep in the Sahara and see two imperial cities properly, yet short enough to fit into one week of holiday. Because this route is a loop, you never drive the same road twice, and you finish next to the airport instead of 240 km away in Marrakech.

Booking it privately means you choose the hotels, the camp and the pace. You stop at a viewpoint when the light is good, skip a museum if the children are tired, and eat where your guide eats. Our page on private vs group tours in Morocco explains the difference in detail.

Itinerary of the 7 days private tour from Casablanca

The plan below is our standard route for the 7 days private tour from Casablanca. We adjust the stops, the hotels and the camp to your wishes. Distances and driving times do not include stops.

Day 1: Casablanca – Hassan II Mosque – Marrakech

Your driver-guide meets you at your hotel or at Mohammed V Airport. First, you visit the Hassan II Mosque, completed in 1993 on a platform over the Atlantic, with a minaret of about 210 m. Guided visits for non-Muslims run several times a day, except on Friday morning.

Then the motorway takes you south across the plains of the Chaouia to Marrakech, the Red City. You check in to a riad in the medina, and in the evening you can walk to Jemaa el-Fna, where storytellers, musicians and food stalls fill the square after sunset.

  • Overnight: riad or hotel in Marrakech
  • Meals: —

Day 2: Marrakech – Essaouira day trip – Marrakech

After breakfast you drive west through the argan forest, where goats sometimes climb into the trees, and stop at a women’s cooperative that presses argan oil by hand. You reach Essaouira, the old Mogador, by late morning.

Walk along the 18th-century ramparts of the Skala, through the UNESCO-listed medina and down to the blue fishing boats of the port, where you can choose fresh fish for lunch. In the afternoon you return to Marrakech for a free evening.

After lunch you walk through the Ksar of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO site since 1987 and the set of Gladiator. Then you pass Ouarzazate and follow the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs through Skoura and the Valley of Roses to your hotel in the Dades Valley.

In the afternoon the road crosses stony plains to Erfoud and Merzouga. At the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes you meet your camels and ride into the sand as the light turns orange. Dinner, drums by the fire and a night in your desert camp follow.

In the afternoon a licensed local guide takes you into Fes el-Bali, on the UNESCO list since 1981. You see the Bou Inania Madrasa, the outside of al-Qarawiyyin, founded in 859, the Nejjarine fountain and the Chouara tannery from a terrace above the dye vats.

  • Meals: breakfast

Finally you continue to Casablanca, where your driver-guide drops you at your hotel or at Mohammed V Airport in the afternoon. That completes the full loop of the 7 days private tour from Casablanca.

  • Driving distance: about 290 km
  • Driving time: about 3 hours 45 minutes

Favorites Morocco Tours vs other Morocco tour companies

Many week-long Morocco tour packages start in Marrakech and leave you to find your own way from Casablanca. Others race to the desert and back in a straight line. Ours is a true loop from Casablanca, with Essaouira, the Sahara and Fes, and with the longest drive capped at about seven hours.

Besides that, we are a local Moroccan team. We publish real driving times, keep the same driver-guide all week and never add compulsory shopping stops. If you would rather skip Essaouira and spend more time in the north, look at the 8 days private tour from Casablanca with Chefchaouen.

Know before you go

  • Day 3 is the longest of the trip, about 7 hours with stops; it crosses the High Atlas.
  • The Hassan II Mosque is closed to visitors on Friday morning. If day 1 falls on a Friday, we visit it on day 7 instead.
  • Prefer to end in Marrakech? See the 6 days tour from Casablanca, which ends there.
  • Want a second desert night? Ask for the 9 days private tour from Casablanca or add a night in Merzouga.
  • From December to February, snow is possible in the Middle Atlas and on the Tizi n’Tichka, and desert nights drop close to freezing. Pack a warm layer; see what to wear in Morocco.
  • In July and August the south is very hot, often above 40 °C. Spring and autumn are the best seasons: check the best time to visit Morocco.
  • Bring cash in dirhams for lunches, entrance fees and tips. ATMs exist in every city on the route but not at the desert camp; see our guide to the Moroccan dirham and to tipping in Morocco.
  • Pack a small overnight bag for the desert camp, because your main luggage stays in the vehicle.
  • Tell us about any allergy or diet before departure. Riads and camps prepare vegetarian and vegan meals with notice.

¡Totalmente recomendados!"

Frequently asked questions

Is 7 days enough for Morocco from Casablanca?

Yes, for a first trip. Seven days covers Marrakech, the coast, the Sahara and Fes as a loop. With more time, add Chefchaouen or a second night in the desert.

Does the tour return to Casablanca airport?

Yes. Day 7 ends at Mohammed V Airport or your hotel in the afternoon, so an evening flight is usually fine. Tell us your flight time and we plan the last morning around it.

Can we add Chefchaouen to the 7 day tour?

Not without dropping something else. Chefchaouen sits in the north, away from this loop. The 8 days private tour from Casablanca includes it.

How long is the camel ride?

About 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes each way between the edge of the dunes and the camp, depending on the camp’s location.

Can I skip the camel ride?

Yes. A 4×4 can drive you to the camp instead, at no extra cost.

Do the desert camps have private bathrooms?

Superior and luxury tents have a private bathroom with shower and toilet. Standard camps have shared facilities.

What is the best time of year for the 7 days private tour from Casablanca?

March to May and September to November. Winter nights in the desert are cold, and July and August are very hot in the south.

Is the 7 days private tour from Casablanca good for families?

Yes. No day is extreme, and the Essaouira beach day and the camel ride are favourites with children. Tell us their ages and we prepare child seats.

What vehicle do you use?

A private air-conditioned vehicle sized for your group, from a Toyota Land Cruiser or Prado to a Mercedes Vito or Sprinter minibus.

How far in advance should I book?

Two to four weeks is usually enough. For Christmas, New Year and Easter, book as early as possible.

How do I pay?

We accept payment by PayPal, and we explain the details when you confirm your booking.
